The Pressure of Dollar and Euro Surge on Logistics/ Impact of Currency Volatility on the Transport Industry

The surge in foreign exchange rates has increased operational costs across all transport sectors, creating a crisis for spare parts procurement and fleet modernization.

The surge in foreign exchange rates has increased operational costs across all transport sectors, creating a crisis for spare parts procurement and fleet modernization.

Economic analysts warn that the simultaneous surge in currencies like the dollar and euro is threatening profitability across air, sea, road, and rail transport. As of September 30, 2026 (8 Mehr 1405), the dollar reached 2,528,050 Rials and the euro 2,865,800 Rials. This volatility complicates the procurement of imported spare parts and maintenance services. In aviation, the mismatch between Rial-based revenues and dollar-denominated costs is grounding fleets. Similarly, in maritime transport, rising transshipment costs and maintenance expenses for port equipment are undermining Iran's geopolitical transit advantages.
