The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Central Bank have restricted access to exchange center currency for 4,533 tariff lines.
Following a joint meeting between the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Governor of the Central Bank, it was decided that out of 4,599 tariff lines, only 66 will be eligible for exchange center currency. Mohammad Sadegh Mofatteh, Deputy Minister, stated that other goods must secure their required currency through their own exports or private sources. This policy aims to rebalance foreign exchange resources and reduce demand on official reserves. However, concerns have been raised regarding potential increases in import costs, higher production prices, and intensified inflation resulting from this shift in currency policy.
