The CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways announced that the number of daily freight trains in East Azerbaijan province has reached 43.
Jabbar-Ali Zakeri, CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, stated that daily freight train traffic in East Azerbaijan has increased from 16-17 to 43 trains. This growth reflects enhanced operational capacity within the provincial rail network. Emphasizing private sector involvement, Zakeri noted plans for new industrial rail spurs, including a line for the Tabriz Refinery, to streamline logistics. Additionally, infrastructure development is underway at the Razi border station to boost capacity for freight exchange with Turkey, involving the addition of two kilometers of station trackage to facilitate cross-border rail operations.
