The Chairman of the Iranian International Transport Companies Association reported a rise in logistics costs, with freight rates from Turkish ports to Iran hitting $8,000.
Ehsan Malekzadeh, Chairman of the Iranian International Transport Companies Association, stated that logistics costs have exceeded 10% of cargo value. He highlighted the urgent need to modernize the commercial fleet, noting that current regulations requiring the purchase of old trucks for scrapping certificates hinder progress. Malekzadeh proposed allowing a payment of 5% of the customs value instead. To ensure imported trucks are used for transport efficiency rather than speculation, the association has proposed a 10-year ban on the resale of these vehicles. He emphasized that fleet modernization is essential for Iranian trucks to meet international standards and operate effectively abroad.
